After a career in neuropsychology, I took a U-turn to painting. I have struggled to understand what is so compelling about painting, and whether it is frivolous and self-indulgent. Betty Edwards helped me reconcile my choice:
“While nature undoubtedly evolved its balance of bright and dull, light and dark, analogous and complementary colors for complicated survival purposes, our human brain apparently- for what purpose is unclear- evolved the capacity to respond aesthetically to nature’s beauty and to emulate it in drawings, paintings, and sculpture.”

My goal is to make beautiful paintings inspired by the natural world, which bring pleasure to me, and I hope, to others.
